Review of the Macgregor 25 by BA Alexander

Year built 1979
Location of boat Trailer, Norco,Ca
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2012
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, it is one of the smallest sailboats I've owned, and one of the nicest handling vessels, in light and moderate winds. I have always owned vessel I've had to berth in the marinas I like the idea I can take my vessel and go..
Gear that's been added Bimini top, Gps and depth gage, dodger, elec start 9.9 evanrude 2 stroke, Modified the rudder so I can retract it. all new interior cushions, updated winches and covers
Structural or complex improvements Modified the rudder so I can retract it, and a new laminated 48" tiller, with a navico 1600 autopilot.
The boat's best features the easy handling in light winds. able to go to new places up and down the west coast of Cal. and Baha.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. my old rudder.
Sailing characterisitcs I think when you get into some heavy winds above 15 knots the vessel is a little to light for this in my personnel experences.
Motoring characterisitcs since I've installed a 9.9hp elec start no problems beating into the wind.
Liveability to small for extended cruses with more than 2 people.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) A pleasure.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
