Review of the Macgregor 22 by stan edwards

Year built 1983
Location of boat ok
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1988
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? not if I could find a 25 Ilike the boat but a little small
Gear that's been added new blocks guide for main sail clutches for head sail
Structural or complex improvements had to replace keel cable with 5'16 stainless had to weld rudder housing do to cracks to ligth
The boat's best features good lite air boat sails when all other boats set at dock swing keel cove camping
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. only problems with cable brake and light rudder
Sailing characterisitcs boat wants to broach in heavy wind wen carring to much sail boat sails great in 20 to 30 knot winds with reefed head and main sails boat stayed flat with little effect from heavy gust is important to have size of your sail correct to stay a steady course and have control with light air all you can hoist
Motoring characterisitcs with 4.5 merc slow
Liveability no head room opening ports would be nice a dodger a must not all that comfy but it works
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) no
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any bought from privet party a 27 mac with swing keel for light air with water ballist to be filled when the wind picks up made after the 22&25 hauls would be great
