Owner bought the boat in 2008
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? So far its just been cleaning up the bright work, structural repair, getting ready for paint and new non-skid.
Gear that's been added Well, my Mac 21 was built before they put in a forward hatch, so have been working on that. I'm replacing the mast support with aluminum tubing. I put in a proper anchor locker with hatch. Lots of work!
Structural or complex improvements The mast support was in bad shape, the fiberglass/plywood under the mast connection was delaminating, someone abandoned the original motor mount structure to put in a new mount but only sandwiched the transom fiberglass with mount and non-marine plywood... so must tie that in to the original structure. But the worst is that the previous owners had done a horrible job with a DIY non-skid (paint and sand) that in some places was 3/8 inch thick... so have spent 4 nights so far wire brush grinding the whole thing down to a good base.
The boat's best features Well, for a fractional cruiser its stable and fast for its model and size.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Would have liked just a bit more cabin space...
Sailing characterisitcs Sailing in the San Juan Islands.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Sleep over night... thats about it.
