Review of the Macgregor 26M by Ramon

Year built 2006
Location of boat Cocoa, Fl
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I have waited a long time to buy this boat and I will buy again.
Gear that's been added No at this time but I would like to install a permanent head and shower.
Structural or complex improvements No, but it will be nice to restructure one of the storage to fit a good side cooler
The boat's best features The accommodations are fantastic
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have encounter some helm weather that prevent me to turn or tack. Also the dagger board should be re-enforce with metal sheeting to prevent early worn out.
Sailing characterisitcs Sailing in the Macgregor is a breeze, for most part is easy to handle, very light in the water and respond well in light wind.
Motoring characterisitcs I have installed a 50 hp 4stroke Izuzu and performed extremely well
Liveability My wife and I expend a lot of time in the boat, and love to stay in it.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought my boat from Bill Beers, Boats 4 Sail, Wisconsin, I drove from Orlando Fl; and I can say that I have not found any other dealer or broker that will treat you with so much respect. Bill was always helpful and assist you in any way. Still now I have call Bill for assistant with the boat and he has responded fast and to this point has not turned me down. I will recommend Bill at Boats 4 Sail to anyone.
