Review of the Macgregor 21 by carl hulse

Year built 1973
Location of boat kept at home
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2005
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes it turnrd out to be much better than i expected
Gear that's been added mast rasing system-
Structural or complex improvements i added two layers of woven roving starting at the keel area up to the water line level.completly redone the cabin area
The boat's best features very stable-- easy to launch-easy to sail
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the rudder is a pain--tighted the bolt to keep the rudder in the up position for launching and its hard to get down for sailing
Sailing characterisitcs so far calm winds- nice days
Motoring characterisitcs oh this is a blast--- using a ted williams 3 hp restored motor.no nutral no reverse. but believe it or not this little vintage motor does quite well
Liveability well--be o.k.for two people. l take the grand kids out for a day only.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) OH SUPER THEY ARE GREAT
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments if i had to do it over i would do it sooner
