The boat's best features Easily trailorable. Great combo of sail and power. Sailing is great, but if you need the power it's nice to have it! The versatility satifies the entire family. The children love the power option....they love to knee-board and tube...and we (the adults) love to sail. Truely the best of both worlds.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The only problem experienced has been docking or getting the boat back on the trailer in high winds or rough water. With the ballast empty, rudders and centerboard up, the front is a bit difficult to control. We have avoided this problem for the most part by leaving her in a slip most of the year...!
Sailing characterisitcs Wonderful!...We have sailed her in the San Fransico Bay and Lake Tahoe....great results! Very easy to handle and fun!
Motoring characterisitcs Wonderful as well! We have a Johnson 70HP and this gives us the extra speed and power the children desire for water sports. Of coarse, she goes much faster a sea level. A different prop was need for Lake Tahoe because of the altitude.
Liveability We have mainly use the boat for weekends or 4 to 5 days at a time. The marina has showers, so that helps! W/out a frig it makes it a bit more difficult...a frig option would br great! We are campers, so this is luxury...It seems to work well for the four of us...just enough room.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any We purchased our boat from Arena Yacht Sales in san Rafael, CA. Dan & Jeff were wonderful!!! I can't say enough good things about them. They made the buying experience a good one. They personally gave us our lessons and made us feel secure in our decision. Customer Service is a high point with them!
Other comments The boat can handle extreme conditions...our maiden voyage on Lake Tahoe got rough when an unexpected storm came up on Tahoe. We experienced massive swells largest enough to make us a 26ft surfboard!...After several miles of continuous pounding we expected damage. There was NONE!!! She handled the beating like a heavy weight champ! The boat did surprising well considering the dangerous conditions we were under for severval hours. It made me feel secure in what the boat can actually endure. Macgregor built a truely great boat...we are believers after our unforgettable testing experience.
