Owner bought the boat in 2005
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. I use it on nearby lakes or at Morro or Avila Bays. It is very fast and fun. It is my way of experiencing one of the different ways of seeing the country. I have only owned the boat for about 4 months, but I plan on taking it to San Diego Harbor, Long Beach Harbor, Ventura, or Santa Barbara. I am even planning on taking up to the Delta area next summer.
Gear that's been added Just minor things. I added bumper wheels under the rear of the trailer. To avoid bottoming out the trailer on the driveway exit-entrance. I added another pulley to the top of the mast, so that I can hoist and fly a flag and burgees.
Structural or complex improvements None.
The boat's best features Its versatility for use on lakes or ocean. It is also very fast in the water. Being able to pull the center board up, I easily can get off of sand bars or shallow shores. You gota love it.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I am still trying to figure out the center board setup. It begins to vibrate at higher sailing speeds.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat handles well under most circumstances. So far, I have sailed under calm seas and medium winds. It is so fast and easy to handle.
Motoring characterisitcs I am using a Yamaha 2.5 hp outboard. I am so surprised at how fast it goes with such a small engine. I am having a Mercury 6 rebuilt as a permanent engine for the boat. I have noticed that under power, the boat does not turn well unless you lower the center board at least half way down.
Liveability I have not had a chance to experience its liveability.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I purchased the boat from a third party.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any N/A
Other comments I am very satified with its performance. I also found it easy to raise the mast when on the water. The Avila Bay Harbor has no boat ramp, so I am forced to use a hoist with the mast down. Raising the mast along the pier was no problem.
