Review of the Macgregor 22 by Rob

Year built 1982
Location of boat Lake Mead, NV.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2005
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES, It has been only a short time and I feel very comfortable with her as if i have owned her all along.
Gear that's been added 1) new Nissan 5hp four stroke.
Structural or complex improvements Not really "improvments" however i have replaced the starboard main shroud, the keel piviot bolt and seals and replaced the old cracked blocks with new harken ballbearing type blocks.
The boat's best features Easy to Tow, Sail. Positive flotation, just the right size to sinlehand.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. NADA
Sailing characterisitcs Great in winds UNDER 25knts, very tender little boat, not very swift when close hulled, though expected in a small swing keel boat.
Motoring characterisitcs Again great! I lock the new nissan and use the rudder to steer, pushes her at about 5.5knts with the keel cable singin'
Liveability No thanks, Its OK to get out of the sun for a while, but I'm six foot 240# and dont relly want to try and get too comfortable in there.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) no dealings with macgregor, though getting parts and accesories have been easy through our local marine store.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments As we say in the auto buis: its a honey for the money!!
