Review of the Macgregor 24 by Wayne Courtain

Year built 1970
Location of boat Oregon
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2005
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes.
Gear that's been added Not at this time. Will add VHF and GPS Chart/plotter.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features Too early to tell at th is time. I do like the stability of the boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing.
Sailing characterisitcs Very forgiving and stabil.
Motoring characterisitcs With a 6 HP it is sluggish but does respond. Surface wind makes steerage difficult.
Liveability Weekend camping. Longer if marina's are used you are able to get off the boat, but not much.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any N/A
Other comments I used this boat about four years ago and rescued from a horse pasture this winter. Can't wait to take her to the San Juans and island hop this summer.
