Review of the Macgregor 25 by donald

Year built 1979
Location of boat new port richey florida
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? you bet!!!
Gear that's been added Almost complete rebuilt interior...new depth finder/fish finder...new radio system, new stove, new tiller, new outboard (9.9), Doyle APC spinnaker, all new deck hardware, new rigging, new halyards, sheets..and much more...just having fun on a rebuild.
Structural or complex improvements No, none called for
The boat's best features speed in light winds, pointing ability, ability to raise keel in shallow waters
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. absolutely nothing
Sailing characterisitcs once the new sail configuration was established..cunningham,boom vang added and APC what a great ride...Even in light winds 5-7 still gets up and goes with little effort.
Motoring characterisitcs too noisy...vibrations etc. only thing I don't like about it replaced a two stroke 8 with a four stroke 9.9 but still would rather not use it at all. Still its a have to have.
Liveability Ok..we call it our "pop-up" camper on the water. anywhere anytime campout. Great sleep for two adults and two young boys (7 & 9)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Great Great called and asked for information and within a couple of days received great stuff in the mail...asked about rigid spreaders and immediately sent info on same..
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any personal
Other comments It is amazing how many people recognize the boat at a glance..and then comment on how they miss theirs and/or how great the experiences were when they had theirs.
