Review of the Macgregor 22 by Michael

Year built 1984
Location of boat NJ
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, This is a sailboat that is not too big for trailering, and not too small for the family to enjoy the cabin.
Gear that's been added Not too much new this year. I have spent time cleaning up different areas of the boat. Removing old botom paint. Restoring the outboard motor to the origional color of Johnson white instead of black. Removing the rust from the trailer.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Just about impossible to roll. Very stable.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have yet to use the outboard. So with 100% sail power one does have limitations.
Sailing characterisitcs Very stable. Smooth through rough chop. 1-2 foot bay type waves.
Motoring characterisitcs NA
Liveability Not quite designed for that. These boats are a little basic.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Private
Other comments Nothing.
