Review of the Macgregor 21 by Joe Evans

Year built 1970
Location of boat Utah
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in Priv
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, Definately I got a good deal on this boat and am excited to learn how to sail. I have been twice in the two weeks I have had the boat and am enjoying every minute. It seems to be a good boat to learn on.
Gear that's been added no
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features I like how easy it is to trailer and how fun it is to sail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The lock down for the Keel is too big now, someone hit a sand bar and the hole for the lockdown bolt is too big now and leaks a bit.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs I have a Yamaha two stroke six horse motor and it handles fine. I wouldn't say that ir goes real fast but it works well.
Liveability I think I'll have fun camping on it from time to time. The cabin is small but adequate for short trips.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) NA
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any NA
Other comments She is an old boat and needs a bit of TLC. I feel it is a good investment for my family.
