Review of the Macgregor 26X by Earl Johnson

Year built 2002
Location of boat Postl Point, Eglin AFB, FL
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Either this one or a 26M. But definitely a Macgregor.
Gear that's been added vhf marine radio, fm/cd player with speakers, dual batteries, fish finder/depth finder/sounder. Process of installing fresh water wash down kit.
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Ease of trailering, rigging, sailing and cost.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. None.
Sailing characterisitcs Sailing is great even in a fine brease. Like its slow wind characteristics.
Motoring characterisitcs Disappointing. Its squarly when under power. Will not hold a heading very well. But one must expect this from a multi purpose boat.
Liveability I have not attempted to live aboard. Not enough room to be very comfortable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I have had excellent results when dealing with Macgregor.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Was very disappointed with the dealer. Boat was not rigged when delivered. Several items were missing, items installed were not of the quality ordered.
Other comments Like it very much, this is mu second 26x and me and family really enjoy it.
