Review of the Macgregor 26X by ken boehner

Year built 1966
Location of boat WELLS HARBOR MAINE
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1966
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES!!
Gear that's been added no
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features shallow draft. speed. Fast tides here.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. mooring at my bouy. where there are no chocks I have wearing on the bow.
Sailing characterisitcs All good. I reef a lot because I am no longer a racer.
Motoring characterisitcs all good. It is great to have the muscle of a 50hp motor on a sailboat when the tide is going greater than 6kts. If I have to, I can ride the waves into the harbor rather than doing it the hard way on my old 22ft venture and a 9hp motor
Liveability no overnights yet
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any all good
Other comments one question - Is the trailer line U bolt on the bow strong enough to hold the boat at a mooring?
