Review of the Macgregor 21 by GARY L. SUMMERS

Year built 1973
Location of boat Springfield Missouri
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? It's a great sailing boat , a little small in side
Gear that's been added
Structural or complex improvements This is my 3 rd MacGregor and I have bought this boat to fix it up & enjoy it. The keel has been taken off. I need a new bolt for the keel pivot as well as new cable for4 the winch. I'm oing to have to make a new rudder also.
The boat's best features I know that this boat is a good sailing rig and want to bring it back to it's top performance. It has a good main and decent jib as well as a 150 % genoa.Tracks & winches seem servicable, the interior is gutted, which is OK.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The main item I'm concerned with is the keel
Sailing characterisitcs I have not put this boat in the water yet, but I have owned a 24' & 25" MacGregor as wellas a 23.5' Hunter & sailed on larger boats in the Pacific.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
