Review of the Macgregor 19 by Michael Rudacille

Year built 1993
Location of boat PA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. At times I consider buying the 26m. I'm not sure that bigger would be much better.
Gear that's been added roller furling. support for the hatch, system to pull rudders from the boat, racks for storage. screen enclosure for the cabin (when the hatch is propped up), forward hatch, swing cleat to raise main from the pit, sail slugs on main
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features ease of trailing, ability to run at 20mph, handling under sail in medium air, small size for docking and cleaning
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. having to go out of the boat to pull rudder pins, having to go below to adjust the center board, lack of controls for the outboard
Sailing characterisitcs poor pointing, stable when reefed
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
