Review of the Macgregor 19 by James A. Hepp

Location of boat Wapakoneta,Ohio  
The boat is sailed on Lakes  
How the boat is used Weekends and longer  
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots  
Average size of crew 2-4  
Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 2003  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes This boat served us well when we just started geting into sailing as a family.Vee bert  
Gear that's been added Vee berth coushions , storm jib  
Structural or complex improvements Replaced broken mast  
The boat's best features Low cost and simple rigging  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Big hunk of wood not shaped for a rudder.  
Sailing characterisitcs Sailed in 35 MPH wind one time almost layed boat over but she allways came back upright.  
Motoring characterisitcs Hit a stump with keel up allmost got thrown into the water when I come to a fast stop.  
Liveability Too small to live on but did ride out several thruderstorms down below.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) NA  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I made him a fair offer and he accepted It.  
Other comments The older Ventures where a good boat for the money.
