Structural or complex improvements Replaced compression post and bulkheads in cabin. Laminated 3 1x3 oak and thru bolted to replace stock mahogany post. Bulkheads replaced with 3/4 marine ply with oak veneer. Replaced fuse panel with 4 switch curcit breaker panel. Replaced wiring throughout and nav lights, anchor light and deck light. Replaced group 24 car battery with small (7.3 lb.) tractor battery (12V) to save space and weight. Solar battery charger. Replaced all exterior wood with composite (trex). Replaced all non-stainless steel fasteners with new SS. Rudder with HDPE kick-up to replace wood. Removed, cleaned and re-set ports w/butyl rubber for water tight seal. Removed/repaired all bottom blisters and barrier coated bottom (interlux 2000e). Removed and sandblasted iron keel, repainted and barrier coated.
The boat's best features trailerability. easy launch and retreival.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. cabin table is of a poor design (3-point support)as it tips with the slightest pressure. Created new swing down leg with wide support to remedy the problem.
Sailing characterisitcs sails easy. tends to weather helm even after split back stay installation to adjust rake. deck a bit cramped when setting/striking headsails but all in all and easy boat to take out even with non-sailors. Moves well in light air and under OB power.
Motoring characterisitcs moves well under OB power (5hp)
Liveability best for daysailing and possible overnight. but beyond that, too small for extended stays.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) just BYW
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
Other comments best bang for the buck on the market. lots of support on this site and throught sailmakers and chandlerys.
