Review of the Macgregor 22 by Bill Morr

Year built 1984
Location of boat Colorado
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes,wanted to trade other sailboat for one with a cabin we could camp in that was fun to sail and easy to trailor. Although there are many larger boats where we sail, I am not sure there are many boats as flexible as this. We get some wild winds in the after noons and this has proved to be a very predictable boat. We have camped quite comfortably on her after some interior modifications. We have pulled her to3 or 4 different lakes with no trouble. She is fun and big enough to bring freinds along.
Gear that's been added 5 horse 4 cycle outboard, added track and blocks for jib lines
Structural or complex improvements made some stowable platforms to enlarge sleeping area.
The boat's best features It is easy and fun to sail
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs not fast but am working on it. points well, good feed back through rudder
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability good for camping, a weight trade off.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The Anchorage treated us very well
