Sails, provisions, and other items can get in the way of accessing the hatches under the V-berth cushions, so I installed this hatch. I had a local plastics company cut the cover from plexiglass, providing a nice quarter-rounded and polished edge matching the one under the galley. Hardware was provided by Blue Water Yachts.

Opening was cut by drilling the four corners then cutting from hole-to-hole with a vibrating saw. I am not seeing any evidence of structural stress, but if desired, one could reinforce the area above the opening from the inside.
