Rigged for Singlehanding

posted 02-13-2009 by Henry Rodriguez

The pictures show how I ran all of my halyards and other lines back to the cockpit.
Lines on the port cabin top edge are jib sheet (red, thru Harken cam cleat w/Extreme angle fairlead, can be adjusted from either side of cockpit), main halyard (white w/green thru PXR cleat), Staysail sheet (blue, thru Harken cam). Farther forward on the port side cabin top are the topping lift (thru clam cleat), and the single reefing line for the second reef (thru small Harken cam cleat.)
The boom vang leads along the sliding hatch rail on the port side to an aluminum Clam cleat. The main Cunningham (black) leads along the starboard side sliding hatch rail to a Ronstan carbon clam cleat.
Lines on the starboard side of the pop top (from the outside in)are the jib sheet (red), staysail halyard (white w/blue, thru PXR cleat), staysail sheet (blue).
The jib halyard (white w/red) cleats to a small Harken cam cleat on the vertical edge of the starboard side of the pop top. This cleat has no fairlead and the halyard is turned aft from the mast thru a swivel block. I did this so that I can grab the halyard tail and go forward to the mast or bow and still have complete control when raising the spinnaker.
Farther forward on the starboard side is the reefing line for the first reef.

I can raise the sails and leave my mooring within 5 minutes of getting on board. I can put a reef in underway in about 30 seconds.
