The Prairie Schooner

Well it has been quite a few years. (25) since I sailed. As the saying goes you can take the girl out of the country but you cannot take the country out of the girl. Hence I have moved to the great vast prairies of eastern Montana. Uhm....Think the old saying has to go for sailing also. The vast prairies of the west remind me of the ocean and have made me yearn for the wind in my face and gliding so gracefully across the vastness with sails full of wind. Well to make a long story short I found the perfect trailerable boat in International Falls MN. Brought her home last fall and now she is being readied for her launch and christening on Fort Peck Lake in North Eastern Montana. My 6' 2" cattle rancher is all game for the idea. He is tired of the noise and cost of traveling on this very large body of water by power boat. We have lots of trips planned with our Newport Venture 23 Macgregor sail boat. Flathead lake, Yellowstone lake, and last but not least Jackson Lake at the base of the Majestic Teton Mountains in Wyoming. Yes it is okay for a 57 year old, retired sailor, mother, grandmother, cowgirl, etc to return to the water. Dreams do come true.
